I have played a lot of games, and one of my favorites Ultimate Frisbee. Ultimate Frisbee is an amazing game; it even has the word ‘ultimate’ in it. However, there is a way to make it better. Glow-in-the-Dark Ultimate Frisbee is way better than normal Frisbee. The rules are exactly the same, except at night, and with glow in the dark supplies. Somehow it is much more fun, though. I will go through what you will need to play, and best practices I have learned.
You need to get a LED Frisbee. I have tried glow-in-the-dark Frisbees before without much success. It has to be very dark to get a noticeable glow. Unfortunately, there is a point where the sky is not dark enough for the Frisbee to be noticeable, and it is too dark to play Frisbee safely. Believe me, people have gotten hurt playing Frisbee without enough light. I have had a better experience with LED Frisbees than glow in the dark ones. I bought this one, and it is working really well. Also, do not play with a dinky Frisbee that you got for free somewhere. The Frisbees they pass out at carnivals are not heavy enough. An Ultimate Frisbee should weigh 185 grams. It makes a real difference in how well it can be thrown, which is in direct correlation to how annoyed people get when playing.
This could take some looking. I have gotten these before. Except when I got them, they were $6.99 for 50. As of writing this they are 6.99 for 8, but there is a 50% coupon. I suggest you look around to see if you can get a better price. I really got them for a steal when I bought 50 for $6.99, which is why I bought 4 boxes. So if you find ones for a good price, by a bunch. Also, a warning, the red string that comes with them will stain clothes. People get sweaty, the dye washes off onto people’s clothes. So let all the strings sit in bleach water for a couple of hours, then let them dry outside. That solved the problem.
Find a large empty grass field to play on. Do not play on concrete; you are asking for injuries if you do that. Set up two goal posts with glow sticks tapped on cones in each end zone. The rules for the game are here http://www.whatisultimate.com/what/what_rules_en.html. Ultimate is best played with 8-20 players. Any more or less, and the game falls apart. Sometimes I choose the teams ahead of time, to avoid a gym-class team-choosing scenario. Good luck and have fun.
