Creating an Action Plan

Action Plan

An action plan is very important to getting things done. I know  they know that they have to take action to get things done, but many times it seems like people forget. Creating an action plan is usually in the forefront of my mind, so it is something I put a lot of effort in. I might need to spend more time on adding details to the vision, but I think the action plan is very important.

SilverStripe Review

Silverstripe CMS reviewWhen I did my last church website project, I decided to try out a new [tooltip content=”content management system” url=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_management_system” ]CMS[/tooltip]. I wanted one that was completely PHP5, I did not want it to have all the cruft of PHP4. One that was PHP and Mysql also meant that it could be used in about any webhost. I also wanted something I could control as the developer, and easy for other people to update. I decided SilverStripe was the perfect option.

How to Be the Life of a Christian Party

Starting Conversations

This post could work equally well for any party. The only difference is there is no drinking, depending on the denomination. Also, there probably will not be any uncomfortable conversations, unless someone reads out of Song of Solomon. Christian parties are easier, because everyone knows they are supposed to be nice to everyone else. The basics in this post will be for any party setup.

One More Cheap Online Donation Tool

MyCharityBoxShortly after I wrote my previous post about cheap donation tools, I found another very cheap one. MyCharityBox seems like a very nice donation tool. The fees are 3.5% + $0.25 per transaction. So it is not as cheap as paypal, but the cheapest than any others for the amount of features it has. It comes with an express checkout system so people can donate without registering. This is what I am looking for in a donation tool. It allows more features if the person registers, like payment history and such. You can also use the admin interface to enter credit cards manually. MyCharityBox allows for people to give to multiple funds if they want. The only thing that I do not like about MyCharityBox is that it is social media heavy. It tries to look like a social media platform, since that is what people use everyday. It is just a personal thing, but I think the social media thing is overused. Other than that, if you’re looking for something beefier than paypal, MyCharityBox looks good.

What Does “I Desire Mercy and Not Sacrifice” Mean?

I desire mercy and not sacrifice

I am currently going through Matthew, you can read my notes here. Several times I read Jesus saying, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice”(Matthew 9:13, Matthew 12:7). I did not really understand what those words meant. I understood that Jesus wanted us to show mercy, but I also knew Jesus required sacrifice (Matthew 10:16-25, Matthew 10:34-39, Matthew 16:24-26, Mark 8:34-38). I did not really understand what he was saying in these verses. I am ashamed to say that I merely skipped over these verses. I figured it would just go into the pile of biblical verses that I do not understand. Well I was reminded today of those verses.
